Event: Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th is considered a harbinger of bad luck.  It takes place at least once every year but can occur up to three times in the same year.  One reason, it is considered to be unlucky, may stem from a biblical tradition.  Thirteen 13 guests attended the Last Supper, held on Maundy Thursday, including Jesus and his 12 apostles.  One of whom was Judas who betrayed Jesus. The next day, of course, was Good Friday, the day of Jesus’ crucifixion.  And this is why there is an unwritten rule about not having 13 guests at a dinner table … it’s bad luck!

So the next time you cross paths with a black cat, walk under a ladder, or accidentally break a mirror on Friday the 13th … remember to double-check the stops on your trades … you can ever be too careful.

The question is … just how unlucky are the markets on Friday the 13th?

Trivia: Fear of Friday the 13th is known as paraskevidekatriaphobia
