Market Comparison Breakdown: Memorial Day vs Veterans Day
Memorial Day is observed at 3:00 pm on the last Monday of May while Veterans Day takes place on the specific date of November 11 every year in the United States in honor of the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” of 1918 that signaled the end of World War I. Both are Federal holidays that honor veterans, but it should be noted there is a distinction between Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Memorial Day commemorates those who died in battle and made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. While Veterans Day is the day set aside to thank and honor those who served—in wartime and peacetime whether they died or survived.
The question is … How do the markets perform heading into the two holidays that honor those who have served our country?
