The calendar year is divided into four fiscal quarters, with each new quarter beginning in January, April, July, and November.  Portfolio managers and investors alike review their investment holdings at the end of the quarter and typically rebalance positions were necessary to prepare for the new quarter.  The question is … which markets perform the best as they transition from the end of Q1 to the start of Q2.
